Rimming allows you to enhance a glass by adding a sugar or salt crust.
Rim a glass? What on earth does that barbaric term mean? Rimming the edge of a glass is very simple! It consists of dipping it in a liquid and then in sugar or salt (why not in cocoa powder, cinnamon...) Here is an illustrated explanation of the two most commonly used rimming methods. I - Sugar Rim Rimming the edge of a glass with sugar is the most commonly used method. Prepare 2 saucers. - One with lightly beaten egg white, or a syrup (grenadine, mint...) to add color. - And the other with granulated sugar Moisten the rim of the glass in the first saucer, taking care not to dip it too far in so as not to overload it. Gently turn the rim of the glass in the sugar, which will adhere to the chosen liquid. II - Salt Rim Rimming the edge of a glass with salt is done in the same way. It is mainly used for tequila-based cocktails such as the famous margarita Prepare 1 saucer with salt (fine salt or fleur de sel depending on the cocktail), and a quarter of a lemon Make cuts in your lemon to moisten the rim of the glass, taking care not to dip it too far in so as not to overload it Place the inverted glass on the salt and gently turn it so that the salt adheres well to the lemon.
